BANKS – Across from Super Target at 40th & Yankee Hill Road, Exchange Bank is under construction at 4020 Grainger Parkway. A financial institution is going by Hobby Lobby at 66th & O. Chase Bank is opening in the former Burger King near N. 27th and Superior, and to Edgewood. Home Federal is opening soon at 84th & Nebraska Parkway. A friend posted on Facebook recently, “How do all these institutions survive? There are nine different banks within a mile of my house and 45 different Banks or Credit Unions with retail branches in Lincoln. I can’t see how they do enough business to be sustainable”. One reply was “Jetsplash business Model”. Our Grow Lincoln response is, “If there were no customers, there would be no banks and no car washes…ask any dying village in Nebraska. Sidney, Nebraska, for example last week had an auction of the Cabela facilities.”

RESTAURANTS: 838 N. 27th, near Vine Street: Lazeez Pizza and Grille is permanently closed. Signs on the building indicate Shish Kebab Middle Eastern Restaurant. Taco Bell is now open on the southwest corner of N. 84th & Adams.

RESIDENTIAL – Developers are presently working on a small street connection, but watch for Fire Ridge coming at 103rd and Van Dorn which will have 453 homes. There will be a city park at 103rd and South Streets. The proposal includes a request to have “smaller than normal lots for villa and cottage styled homes and a unique opportunity for the neighborhood to provide an alternate location for family and friends of the neighborhood to reside when visiting”, according to Planning Commission records on 2/17/25.
