RETAIL: Fresh International Market, 5220 O St, has pulled an $80K permit that will be adding cafe to existing grocery store. The location is near Barnes & Noble & Scooters.
RESTAURANT: Smoking Crab Seafood is expected to open next spring in the food hall at 335 N. 23rd, alongside Golden Goat Pizza, in a neighborhood redevelopment TIF project that includes apartments above. The menu will feature crab, fish, catfish, and gumbo, joining a growing Cajun seafood scene following the earlier opening of Laughing Crab at Gateway. This coincides with the departure of A Taste of Louisiana restaurant near N. 27th & I-80.
NONPROFIT: On N. 27th Street near the viaduct, Schwisow Construction announced it is erecting a kitchen and donation center for Bridges of Hope which provides formerly incarcerated men and women with essentials to set up a new home upon reentering the community. The donation center is approximately 55’x 68′ with the kitchen area of 40′ x 26′. The project has many architectural features to help it blend into the surrounding community, which will also include tiny homes in Phase Two.
GOVERNMENT: According to Lincoln Journal Star, the City of Lincoln is leasing its former landfill on N. 48th to Lincoln Trap and Skeet, which already has a location nearby northwest of N. 48th and Superior. The organization plans to use the landfill space for sporting clays.
CHILDCARE: Educare, a program for at-risk children, is engaged in a project at 1320 South St, an $800,000 daycare renovation.
